SG標(biāo)志（下圖）是“Safety Goods”的縮寫，是由日本消費品安全協(xié)會（Consumer Product Safety Association，簡稱CPSA）制定的自愿性的產(chǎn)品安全保證標(biāo)志。日本消費品安全協(xié)會CPSA是根據(jù)日本消費品安全法成立的，CPSA通過制訂標(biāo)準(zhǔn)來促進與保證消費品安全，對于符合CPSA標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的商品CPSA將頒發(fā)SG標(biāo)志。
SG標(biāo)志是一個產(chǎn)品認(rèn)證體系。日本消費品安全協(xié)會CPSA為可能會危及人的生命或造成傷害的產(chǎn)品制定獲得SG標(biāo)志的安全標(biāo)準(zhǔn)，安全標(biāo)準(zhǔn)主要是針對產(chǎn)品的結(jié)構(gòu)、材料和/或使用模式方面。作為判斷消費類產(chǎn)品安全的必要準(zhǔn)則，這些標(biāo)準(zhǔn)是在基于來自專業(yè)界和其它許多不同界別代表的意見的基礎(chǔ)上制定的，這些界別包括消費者、制造商、經(jīng)銷商、測試和檢查機構(gòu)以及政府部門。只有那些經(jīng)審核符合安全標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的產(chǎn)品才被CPSA授權(quán)粘貼SG標(biāo)志，審核方法有兩種，一種是“批次審核”，另一種是“工廠注冊＋型式確認(rèn)”。萬一SG標(biāo)志的產(chǎn)品有缺陷，造成事故、造成傷害或死亡，CPSA將支付賠償金。
這種經(jīng)濟擔(dān)保是SG標(biāo)志體系的基本特點，可以說它樹立了一個里程碑，對于消費者使用其覆蓋的產(chǎn)品，既提供安全保障又承擔(dān)傷害賠償。
